Do you know why it’s important to look left and right before entering an intersection, even if you have a green light? During the day, emergency vehicles typically use both lights and sirens, while at night, they mostly rely on lights. There are instances when emergency vehicles may use only lights during the day, and you still must yield to them. This is often the case with police vehicles in pursuit of a suspect, for example, when they need to move quickly without revealing their position. Additionally, a private vehicle with fabric in the window may run a red light, indicating that the driver is alerting the police to potential traffic violations. It's crucial to remember that driving too fast or through a red light can create life-threatening situations, not just minor inconveniences like a stomach ache or toothache. Sometimes, ambulances or vehicles transporting VIPs are accompanied by police motorcycles. A motorcycle officer may drive through the center of an intersection, raising one arm in the air to signal that vehicles in the intersection must stop, as an ambulance is about to pass through. If there are two motorcycle officers, one will proceed to the next intersection to clear the way for the ambulance and halt all other traffic until it has safely passed. There are also cases where a driver, whether intentional or not, may run a red light. This highlights the importance of being cautious and aware of your surroundings before entering an intersection. Therefore, always remember to look left and right before proceeding into an intersection.
